About me
My barefoot journey began in Germany when my first horse, a showjumper, turned out to have navicular and was written off by vets. I didn't give up though, and barefoot, I was able to retrain and compete him in dressage up to advanced level! In Australia, I have had quite a number of thoroughbreds which I have retrained and competed. They all had "terrible TB feet".
Fed up with excuses from farriers, and inspired by local, female barefoot trimmers, I started my own trimming journey in 2017. I never knew I had such a passion for hooves! I have since improved many a TB's feet (yes, they can go barefoot, and yes, they can have normal feet and heels!), and made many other horses, ponies, minis, Clydies and donkeys more comfortable.
I am currently finishing my German hoof trimmer accreditation, which has a very strong, biomechanical focus. I love learning, and my background as a biologist and researcher helps me greatly in understanding physics, biomechanics, physiology, evolution and what is going on inside the hoof.
